Chicks Update #2
I swear I'm not doing this intentionally, but every Friday seems to end up being a big day for our little chicks! Last Friday was the first time we let them roam around the house, and today was the first time we took the chicks out to their coop!
They weren't too sure what to make of this whole new environment at first, but it didn't take them long to get used to it and start exploring and playing around like normal. So, since it's getting nice and warm during the days, we're going to start putting them out to play in their coop in the afternoons. We'll still bring them it at night though (they're still too little and it's still too chilly).
As for the overall past week...I'm not sure I'll ever get over how crazy fast chicks grow! They probably have double the wing feathers now than they did last week, and their tail feathers are growing in.
(These pictures were taken around the middle of the week)
We've also come to the conclusion that Copper is a rooster, and it looks like he's our only one. It works out perfectly, because we wanted mostly hens anyway since we're in this for the eggs.
Fun Fact: Roosters grow and develop faster than hens.
They're also all getting so much more adventurous. Bandit and Vegas especially love climbing up onto high spots and jumping off. I don't remember if I mentioned this in my last post, but Bandit also likes to climb on top of the water jar and sleep there. How he is managing it, we cannot figure out, but it's really cute.
